About The College
The Nalanda Educational Society (NES) was established in the year 1991. The society was started with the objectives of imparting quality education to all aspiring students irrespective of caste, creed and religion, and to promote education in the backward area of Nalgonda district. The society was impelled to start Pharmacy College as there was no college in Nalgonda district, and due to ever increasing demand for the course in the district. Consequently, Nalanda College of Pharmacy (NCOP) was started in the year 1995 with B.Pharm course. Later, D.Pharm course was started in 1997. The courses offered from NCOP are recognized by:
Dr. G. Achaiah, M.Pharm, Ph.D., was the first Principal of the College. First, the college was started functioning in a rented building in Nalgonda; later, the college premise was shifted to a nearby village; Marriguda, in 1998 to accommodate both B.Pharm and D.Pharm students. Own college building was constructed in January 2000.
First batches of D.Pharm and B.Pharm students have completed the courses in 1999. Pass percentage of B.Pharm, I batch, was 97%, while that of D.Pharm, was 91.2%. To date, 14 batches of both B.Pharm and D.Pharm have been successfully completed. We have acquired many University ranks in B.Pharm course and state level ranks in D.Pharm course till date. Our students have participated actively in several seminars, symposiums, research activities, and industrial/educational tours regularly from 1995.
We have started M.Pharm in Pharmacognosy in 2007, and since then M.Pharm in different specializations have started. NCOP is offering M.Pharm in 5 specializations as on date. They are:
We conduct sports activities, cultural activities, journal club, guest lectures, personality development activities, seminars, workshops, symposiums regularly for the benefit of the students. We encourage our students to participate in competitive examinations and a large number of our students have qualified in GATE / GPAT, NIPER, MAHE, GRE, TOEFL etc. We encourage placement of our students through the college placement cell.
